Sarah Callahan
candidate Statement
Hi comrades! I’m Sarah Callahan (she/her), and I’m running to represent Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky DSA as a delegate to the 2025 National Convention.
I’m currently serving my second term as chapter co-chair. Since January, our chapter has grown by 109 net members, a 32.6% increase, and I’ve worked hard to make that growth real, not just numerical. I’ve built a mentorship program and a new training structure for working group co-chairs to ensure that we’re also developing leadership as we grow.
I’ve worked to make our general meetings more exciting and political, bringing in guests like DSA-endorsed candidates in Atlanta and labor organizers from Los Angeles. I’ve always believed that meetings should build morale and our collective strategic capacity. I’ve also been a steering committee member of the Trans Rights and Bodily Autonomy Campaign Commission, a national DSA body dedicated to fighting for abortion rights and trans rights across the country.
I’m proud to be running as part of the Groundwork DSA for All slate, and I believe delegates should come to convention ready to fight for clear politics and clear priorities. These are the five resolutions I’m most excited to support on the national stage:
🌹 To Defeat Trump, Turn Toward the Masses – We must meet this moment with urgency and scale. DSA should lead a unified, member-led campaign to resist Trump’s fascist agenda and build a working-class opposition rooted in labor, anti-racism, and mass organizing.
🌹Members Decide – DSA’s direction should come from its base. This resolution empowers members to initiate national advisory votes on key issues and break through political gridlock.
🌹 Make DSA More Diverse – The working class is multiracial. DSA must reflect that in our internal practices, leadership development, and organizing. We need to reinvest in MROC and make DSA more representative of the class we’re fighting for.
🌹 Unite Labor & the Left to Run a Socialist For President and Build the Party – We can’t sit out another cycle. DSA should run candidates for Congress in 2026 and recruit a serious socialist challenger in 2028. The time for symbolic politics is over. We need to win power and build the organization.
🌹 2025 Trans Right & Bodily Autonomy Consensus Resolution– Our defense of trans rights and bodily autonomy must be strategic, resourced, and relentless. I fully support reauthorizing TRBA with a stronger national structure and staff support to back the work chapters are already doing.
I believe in running campaigns that grow DSA, challenge power, and bring in thousands of working-class people. That’s how we build socialism, and that’s what I’ll fight for on the convention floor.
I hope you’ll consider voting for me and the rest of our Groundwork DSA for All slate: Olivia Merrill, Henry Manning, Katy Eales, Bill Williams, and Jack Cunningham.
