Katy Eales
candidate Statement
Hello comrades! I’m Katy Eales (she/her), and I’m running to represent Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky DSA as a delegate to the 2025 National Convention.
I am currently serving my second term on the Steering Committee. I joined DSA in the summer of 2023 and won an at-large seat for the 2024 term. This year, I have been elected alongside Sarah as your co-chair. In this role, we’ve worked to ensure all working group and committee leaders have what they need to make each group successful. In addition to working one-on-one with WG/committee leaders, I am thrilled to be a part of the new member onboarding team.
I continuously work on administrative tasks to ensure a functioning chapter. I enjoy doing graphic design for our social media, and recently made our petition literature. My biggest passion has been Palestine solidarity, working closely with a local coalition, and recently attending the statewide No New Bonds Conference, where we learned valuable information on how to fight against Israel locally.
I am a member of DSA because I believe we are the best organization to achieve socialism in our lifetimes. To advance our cause, we need to engage all of the working class, regardless of where they currently are in their political journey. I also believe that ALL members should have more of a say in our National decisions, which is why I am very excited to support the following resolutions:
🌹 National Federal Endorsements 1M1V – I believe every member must have a say in federal endorsements as it’s a reflection on every chapter, regardless of where the candidate is running.
🌹 National Leadership 1M1V—I was disappointed to learn that our National Political Committee (NPC) is decided purely by delegates. I don’t feel that accurately represents what our membership wants, and we should have a say in it.
🌹Members Decide – DSA’s direction should come from our membership. This resolution empowers members to initiate national advisory votes on key issues and break through political gridlock.
🌹 Make DSA More Diverse—The working class is multiracial. DSA must reflect that in its internal practices, leadership development, and organizing. We need to reinvest in MROC and make DSA more representative of the class we’re fighting for.
🌹 A Unified Democratic Socialist Strategy for Palestine Solidarity - DSA, and many members locally, are committed to fighting the zionist apparatus. This resolution provides details on how multiple national bodies will provide support to chapters and YDSA in their campus fights.
I’m proud to be running as part of the Groundwork DSA for All slate, and I hope you’ll consider voting for me and the rest of our slate: Olivia Merrill, Sarah Callahan, Henry Manning, Bill Williams, and Jack Cunningham.
