Jack Cunningham

candidate Statement

Hello! My name is Jack Cunningham (he/him) and I am running to be one of your delegates to the National Convention this year!

Since I’ve joined Metro Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s DSA chapter, I’ve witnessed firsthand how intentional organizing and outreach have helped us build momentum, bring in new members, and deepen our collective commitment to the values of socialism. I’m excited about the possibilities of what the Democratic Socialists of America can achieve this year, and I’m proud to stand in solidarity with all 1M1V (One Member, One Vote) resolutions.

I’ve grounded my political development through conversations with comrades across diverse backgrounds and concluded by engaging with the Groundwork caucus: building a DSA rooted in mass, multi-racial, working-class organizing. Since becoming heavily involved in politics in 2017, I’ve consistently organized to connect working people and their families with meaningful candidates and issue-based campaigns. As a member of Metro Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky DSA, I’ve:

  • Deepened my understanding of theory regarding organizing and labor through participating in the Electoral and Labor Working Groups;

  • Helped organize public actions in defence of LGBTQIA+ people, immigrants, the BIPOC community, disabled comrades, and the unhoused—always with a focus on demonstrating and building solidarity, most recently along with the 50501 movement as a State Organizer;

  • Built meaningful relationships with progressive allies in electoral spaces, helping to connect our work to long-term socialist goals and the organizations believing the same.

I hope you’ll consider voting for me and the rest of our Groundwork DSA for All slate: Olivia Merrill, Sarah Callahan, Henry Manning, Katy Eales, and Bill Williams.
